The Performing Arts curriculum is designed to provide the student with basic and advanced skills in the areas of Music, Theatre and Dance. The courses are aligned with the California State Framework for Visual and Performing Arts and SBCUSD Visual and Performing Arts Standards. The primary aim of the performing arts department is to increase technique and performance skills and develop aesthetic and cultural values. Each course emphasizes an understanding of the fundamental elements of Music, Theatre, or Dance and is designed to provide the student with the necessary tools for advanced study and future careers. Advanced courses are offered for the student who wishes to pursue a particular area of interest. The student may take one year of Music, Theatre, or Dance to fulfill the “f” requirement of UC/CSU, as part of a career major, or for enjoyment.
